Our Products
What is 925 Sterling Silver?
Pure or Fine silver is 99.9% pure, but it is too soft for most purposes. In order to make the silver more robust it is mixed with another metal. 925 Sterling Silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of another metal, usually copper. The "fineness" or purity mark for the sterling silver standard therefore has a millesimal fineness of 925 parts per 1000.
Are all your products Hallmarked?
The majority of our products are either millesimal marked and, or stamped with a makers mark. To find out more about Hallmarking please visit:The Assay Office
Anything that is described as Silver and is to be sold as silver must be hallmarked, unless it falls beneath the appropriate exemption weight. Any product with a component to be described as silver in which the total weight of all metal is below 7.78 grams does not need to be hallmarked.
What is a Millesimal Mark?
A Millesimal or Fineness Mark shows the number of parts per thousand of pure metal in the alloy. The silver jewellery and accessories available at Charmed Memories are made of 925 Sterling Silver and will have a millesimal mark of 925.
Do any of your products contain Gemstones?
The only gemstone currently available is a Cubic Zirconia.
What is a Cubic Zirconia?
Cubic Zirconia are simulated gemstones. Optically flawless and usually colourless they offer diamond like qualities at a fraction of the cost.
Are your Weights and Measurements Accurate?
Weights and measurements may vary from piece to piece. All measurements given are approximate and are for guidance purposes only.
How can I Create my Own Charm Bracelet?
Customers purchasing Charms and a Bracelet can take full advantage of our complimentary service. Bracelets will be fully assembled using either Non Solder Jump Rings or Split Rings and supplied with FREE gift box and organza bag. Customers wishing to purchase items separately should add a comment during the checkout process.
What Jewellery Attachments Do You Use?
All of our Traditional Charms will be supplied with a Sterling Silver Jump Ring and Split Ring. There are various methods for attaching charms to bracelets and they are outlined below:
Jump Ring - Traditionally jump rings are used for soldering charms onto bracelets. Although this is the most secure method of attachment, once soldered the charms cannot be moved. Soldering can normally be done by a local jeweller, prices may vary.
Split Rings - Split rings are like a miniature versions of a key ring. Should you not wish to have charms soldered onto your bracelet, this method offers easy and secure attachment.
Please note: If the links of your bracelet are over 2mm in thickness it may cause your split ring to stretch open and the attachment will not be effective).
Non Solder Jump Rings - This method offers the security of a Jump Ring and the versatility of a Split Ring. A heavy duty jump ring, machine cut to create an almost seamless joint offers durability, although, should the wearer of the bracelet prefer a soldered joint this is also possible.
What Packaging Does your Jewellery Come In?
All our our Jewellery is carefully wrapped in acid free tissue, complete with organza bag and pillow pack unless otherwise stated. Alternative methods may be used if considered unsuitable. Giftwrapping is available at an additional cost: Giftwrapping
Can You Advise Jewellery Care?
Sterling Silver Jewellery will tarnish over time. This is a natural reaction between the Silver itself, Oxygen and Sulphar. To prevent tarnish build-up, regular care should be taken. Good care and maintenance is essential in ensuring your silver jewellery remains in good condition for many years. Here are a few tips:
* To clean your jewellery use a silver polish cloth not silver dip.
* To bring back sparkle to faceted gemstones use warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Rinse with warm clean water and dry thoroughly.
* To protect individual pieces from scratching wrap in a soft dry cloth.
* Finally, avoid contact with harsh chemicals, such as hairspray, perfume or household products and remove before swimming or bathing.
